Ballast System using a one-way chain and a syringe

This is a Ballast system allows a drone to be able to travel underwater by raising the mass of the drone and achieving neutral buoyancy

The way this design works is that it has a chain that only bends in one direction, thus allowing a consistent force application on the sealed barrel but can rotate the other way when it is retracting.

 

Reasoning

The purpose of this design is to find a space-efficient solution to having an effective and very accurate ballast system, where the goal isn’t just inserting water into the syringe, but also to have the system be aware of how much water there is using the encoder on the motor since water pumps were very large and having a solid rod control the syringe position would take to much space, I opted to create a new method of actuation.
